In physics, a wind tunnel is an enclosure with a hole in the roof to create an airflow. A flow of air is created in the hole, and the speed of the air is determined by the speed of the wind. A wind tunnel is used to study the movement of air and other fluids.
The free app WindTunnel lets you play with the fluid and understand the physics effects. The app can simulate an infinite number of scenes. Choose between 3 pre-defined scenes: airfoil, rocks, or torus.
Use the two-finger rotate gesture to rotate the scene.
You can see the pressure field, the velocity field, and the flow.
The simulation engine also computes an approximation of the lift and drag.
You can observe the fluid flow in different ways: with smoke, particles, or with pressure and velocity.
